Collectively, these students have earned 177 service-learning credit hours and have volunteered approximately 1700 hours across their local and global communities during their academic tenure at 海角社区. Some of this cohort鈥檚 volunteer opportunities include service events such as Campus Life's Geaux Big and Community Bound. Their individual community engagement includes working with Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts of America, Live 2 Serve, and East Baton Rouge public schools throughout their academic tenure. Some students also served abroad on international mission trips to Guatemala, Chile, Haiti and Ghana.

鈥淪tanding back and looking at what this cohort of ECP graduates has done in an academic year like 2020-21 leaves us awestruck,鈥 said CCELL Director, Dr. Sarah Becker. 鈥淭he world ahead of us looks brighter as they carry themselves into their post-海角社区 lives.鈥

CCELL and 海角社区 Campus Life established the Engaged Citizen Program to support and recognize the accomplishments of undergraduate students who engage significantly with their communities to address critical community needs. Any undergraduate student can apply to be a part of the program.

鈥淭he service these students offered others through challenging times is an incredible testament to their readiness for serving as engaged 海角社区 alumni鈥, said Associate Dean of Students and Director of 海角社区 Campus Life Jacob Brumfield. "We are proud of them and thankful they chose to lead and serve as 海角社区 students!鈥
