Jennifer Baumgartner, PhD, Appointed to Louisiana Board of Regents’ Inaugural Cohort of Meauxmentum Scholars

BATON ROUGE, LAJennifer Baumgartner, PhD, of the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education, was named to the Louisiana Board of Regents’ inaugural cohort of Meauxmentum Scholars. “I’m excited to be named a Meauxmentum Scholar and about the impact this work can have on our campus,” Baumgartner said. “The program makes space for faculty learning communities to explore teaching approaches that enhance student success. Talking with other faculty about teaching is one of my favorite things—I learn so much from my colleagues.”

The , part of the state’s higher education plan “Louisiana Prospers,” focuses on improving access to higher education and completion of useful credentials to set up productive lives for students. The cohort of scholars met at the Louisiana Meauxmentum Summit to discuss how the Momentum Approach could be implemented on their campuses.

“We are very excited about the Meauxmentum Scholars program and its potential impact on the preparation of our students for the future workplace,” Eugene Kennedy, PhD, interim director of the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education, said. “Dr. Baumgartner is an ideal person for this inaugural cohort, given her expertise in student success and faculty development.”

Meauxmentum Scholars will have the opportunity to engage in virtual and in-person professional development, participate in statewide events aimed at advancing the state’s student success strategies through the Louisiana Meauxmentum Framework, lead faculty learning communities at your institution, and contribute to an edited publication reflecting on their experiences over the course of the year.
