Allie Boquet, PhD, Named Co-Editor of The Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals

BATON ROUGE, LA – Allie Boquet, PhD, an assistant professor of professional practice in the º£½ÇÉçÇø Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education, was named a co-editor in chief of (JAASEP), a peer-reviewed online journal that shares new research, ideas, and practices to support professionals in special education.
I am honored to serve as Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of the American Academy of Special Education Professionals. This role represents a meaningful opportunity to champion high-quality research and practical scholarship that elevate the voices of educators, scholars, and advocates in special education. I look forward to supporting the journal’s continued growth as a platform for advancing inclusive, evidence-based practices that positively impact the lives of individuals with disabilities.
Allie Boquet, PhD
Assistant Professor of Professional Practice, º£½ÇÉçÇø Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education
Boquet teaches in the special education program, preparing future teachers in general
and special education classroom settings. She has experience teaching in both K-12
and higher education. Before her time at º£½ÇÉçÇø, Boquet spent 14 years in the classroom.
Now, she is an executive board member for the Louisiana Council for Exceptional Children
and faculty advisor to Exceptional Educators º£½ÇÉçÇø, Best Buddies º£½ÇÉçÇø and Educators Rising.
Her current research focuses on how researchers disseminate evidence-based practices
to be implemented by classroom teachers. Her goal is to increase the use of evidence-based
practices to improve student outcomes.

Boquet will share the editor in chief role with Chelsea Morris, PhD, of the University of New Mexico. Their three-year term began on July 1, 2025, and will run until June 30, 2028.

About the College of Human Sciences & Education
The College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) is a nationally accredited division
of º£½ÇÉçÇø. The college is comprised of the School of Education,
the School of Information Studies, the School of Kinesiology, the School of Leadership
