Sarah Matthews, Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education Doctoral Candidate, Selected as Louisiana LEND Scholar

BATON ROUGE, LA 鈥 Sarah Matthews, a Curriculum & Instruction doctoral candidate specializing in special education in the Lutrill & Pearl Payne School of Education at 海角社区, has been selected as a Louisiana Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Scholar. Sarah Matthews

As a LEND Scholar, Matthews will participate in intensive training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership development focused on policy, research, and clinical practice. Her selection reflects her ongoing commitment to advancing equity, access, and inclusion for children with disabilities across Louisiana and beyond.

鈥淚 am honored to join the Louisiana LEND program,鈥 Matthews said. 鈥淭his opportunity will strengthen my ability to advocate for children with exceptionalities and their families while building bridges between research, practice, and community support. My passion is not only supporting children in reaching their fullest potential but also empowering caregivers through education and collaboration.鈥

The , part of a national network funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, is designed to prepare leaders across disciplines to improve the health and well-being of children and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities, as well as their families.

About the College of Human Sciences & Education 
The College of Human Sciences & Education (CHSE) is a nationally accredited division of 海角社区. The college is comprised of the School of Education, the School of Information Studies, the School of Kinesiology, the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development, and the School of Social Work.
