William Monroe, PhD, Named to Inaugural Cohort of Meauxmentum Scholars by Louisiana Board of Regents

BATON ROUGE, LA 鈥 William Monroe, PhD, a School of Information Studies alumnus, was chosen to join the Louisiana Board of Regents鈥 inaugural cohort of Meauxmentum Scholars. , an assistant director for instructional technology with the 海角社区 Law Library, is one of 100 faculty members chosen from around Louisiana to participate in this program due to his work with colleagues through the 海角社区 Learning and Teaching Collaborative, of which he is now the chair.
鈥淚 was honored and grateful to receive the award and financial support from the Board of Regents, and I was happy to have the opportunity to learn from my colleagues involved with teaching and learning at institutions around the state,鈥 Monroe said. 鈥淭he financial support provides resources to help facilitate a faculty learning community at 海角社区 that focuses on high-impact teaching practices.鈥
is a student success initiative designed by the Louisiana Board of Regents to boost achievement and close equity gaps across public colleges and universities. Adapted from the nationally recognized Momentum Approach, the framework emphasizes three foundational strands鈥攅quity, resources, and learning mindsets鈥攁nd four structural threads鈥攃hoices, pathways, milestones, and engagement鈥攖o drive systemic transformation. Launched at the 2024 Meauxmentum Summit, the initiative unites all 28 public undergraduate institutions in creating campus-specific action plans for implementation. It supports Louisiana鈥檚 goal of increasing the number of working-age adults with a degree or credential to 60% by 2030 through
鈥淭his recognition of Dr. Monroe is well deserved. During his time as a student in the School of Information Studies, it was clear that he would succeed in his professional life,鈥 said Carol Barry, PhD, the former director and current faculty member of the School of Information Studies (SIS). 鈥淎s an adjunct instructor for SIS, he demonstrated a strong commitment to student success and a very creative approach to problems and questions. I couldn鈥檛 be more pleased or proud that his contributions have been acknowledged by the Board of Regents.鈥
Monroe looks forward to the facilitation opportunities that the cohort will provide him in a faculty-centered community and hopes to pursue similar collaborations in the coming year.
