Toups Awarded CxC Outstanding Faculty Award
BATON ROUGE 鈥� 海角社区 Chemical Engineering Instructor Harold Toups was presented with
the 2018 海角社区 Communication Across the Curriculum (CxC) Outstanding Faculty Award at
a ceremony on Tuesday, May 2, in the Lod Cook Alumni Center on 海角社区鈥檚 campus.
As part of the honor, Toups received a $1,500 cash award thanks to the Renee and Leslie Hull Fund.
Toups, who earned his bachelor鈥檚, master鈥檚 and PhD from 海角社区 before embarking on a 30-year career with Exxon, was selected for this year鈥檚 award by a faculty jury because of 鈥渉is extensive commitment to CxC鈥檚 mission of transforming teaching, learning, and ultimately, student success.鈥�
As an instructor in 海角社区鈥檚 Cain Department of Chemical Engineering, Toups has taught a senior laboratory course as communication-intensive for more than 10 years. He has also inspired numerous faculty at the annual 海角社区 Faculty Summer Institute and mentored students through the 海角社区 Distinguished Communicator Certification program.
Additionally, a pair of 海角社区 Engineering faculty were among those recognized during the Distinguished Faculty Awards Ceremony 鈥� Bhaba Sarker, professor of industrial engineering, and Kevin McPeak, assistant professor of chemical engineering.
Sarker received the 海角社区 Distinguished Faculty Award and McPeak received the 海角社区 Alumni Association Rising Faculty Research Award.
