海角社区 BAE Chair Marybeth Lima Inducted As Fellow Into ASABE

海角社区 Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering Chair Marybeth Lima was
recently inducted as a Fellow into the American Society of Agricultural and Biological
Engineers (ASABE). Lima has been a member of ASABE for 27 years and has served on
a number of ASABE award committees.
During her time at 海角社区, Lima started the 海角社区 Community Playground Project (海角社区CPP) where she and her BAE students design and build playgrounds for children in communities across South Louisiana. She wrote a book on this work titled Building Playgrounds, Engaging Communities: Creating Safe and Happy Places for Children.
Lima has also co-authored Service-Learning: Engineering in Your Community, published by Oxford University Press, which has helped shape the practice of engineering education while promoting the integration of service-learning into curricula nationwide.
Throughout her career, Lima has authored or coauthored more than 100 publications, including peer-reviewed articles, books, and book chapters. She has received multiple awards, including the ASABE A.W. Farrall Young Educator Award and Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award. She was also inducted as a Fellow in the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering and the American Society for Engineering Education.
