海角社区 Engineering Sees Highest Number of Tenure-Track Faculty in Years

In the past year, 海角社区鈥檚 College of Engineering has onboarded a large cohort of new faculty and has 13 tenure-track hires. As of August 2025, the College has 149 tenure-track faculty, the highest number in 20 years. It鈥檚 also the first time in the past 10 years at least that the number of tenure-track professors, associate professors, and assistant professors has been almost equal. This year, tenure-track faculty include 49 professors, 49 associate professors, and 51 assistant professors.
鈥淭his is a strong sign of our growth,鈥� 海角社区 College of Engineering Dean Vicki Colvin said. 鈥淭he big faculty cohort is an achievement I鈥檓 proud of, and I thank our department chairs, faculty search teams and college and department HR leaders for all their work helping to get everyone settled in.鈥�
In comparison, the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years saw the most tenure-track professors at 70 while 2023-24 saw the most tenure-track assistant professors at 58. The number of tenure-track associate professors has stayed about the same since 2021.
