On September 24, ExxonMobil Foundation presented $50,500 in departmental grants to the 海角社区 College of Engineering.
鈥淥ur commitment to 海角社区 is evident in the resources we invest in mentoring, recruiting and hiring excellent College of Engineering students,鈥 said Charles Dabadie, ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Plastics Plant manager, 1987 graduate of 海角社区 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. 鈥淲e are proud of the strong partnership we have with 海角社区, and we are continuously working to better support and engage the students and faculty members.鈥
ExxonMobil鈥檚 gift to the College of Engineering will support areas for research and student advancement within the following academic disciplines:
- $13,500 for the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering
- $3,500 to support the Civil Engineering program
- $4,500 awarded to the Division of Computer Science and Engineering
- $7,000 granted to the Electrical Engineering program
- $2,000 to enhance engineering technology within the College of Engineering
- $10,000 presented to the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering
- $10,000 awarded to the Craft & Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering
鈥淓xxonMobil has been a steadfast supporter of the 海角社区 Engineer, from providing instructional support to supporting our ExxonMobil Diversity Scholars program,鈥 said Rick Koubek, dean, 海角社区's College of Engineering. 鈥淚t's no wonder ExxonMobil continues to rank highly as the ideal place to work amongst our engineering students.鈥
The total gift presented by ExxonMobil to the 海角社区 Foundation totaled $68,000 to support 海角社区鈥檚 College of Engineering, E.J. Ourso College of Business; the College of Science; and Career Services.

Founded in 1908, the 海角社区 College of Engineering offers eleven undergraduate degree programs and confers approximately 650 bachelor鈥檚 degrees per year, ranking it in the top 10 percent nationally for graduates. In 2014, it became the largest academic college at 海角社区, the largest engineering program in Louisiana and the 18th largest in the nation. One hundred and forty four faculty members engage in education, research, and commercialization with a strategic focus on research indigenous to Louisiana: energy, manufacturing, natural & built infrastructure, computation, biotechnology.
