Dayo Afekare Places 1st in SPE Regional Student Paper Contest
On Friday, March 7, 2020, Dayo Afekare placed first in the 2020 SPE Eastern North America Regional Paper Contest (PhD division) held at 海角社区. Dayo competed against 3 other individuals, including 1 other 海角社区 student and 2 students from Penn State, in the PhD division.
In addition to the PhD division, participants competed in the Masters division and the Bachelors division. Competitors traveled from ULL and Penn State to compete with 海角社区 students in the Eastern North America region. The event, hosted by our 海角社区 chapter, was well-organized and well-attended.
In October, Dayo will have the opportunity to compete in the international student paper contest held at SPE ATCE 2020 in Denver, CO. In the attached picture, he is shown with Dr. Jyotsna Sharma, our SPE advisor, and Ms. Amber Watson, our SPE President.
