BIO

Sara Green Mele,M.S., CCC-SLP Clinical Faculty, joined the 海角社区 COMD faculty in 2008. She has extensive knowledge and clinical experience in evaluation and treatment of the adult populations presenting with brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, head and neck cancer, and other neurological diseases that she gained at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Sara is an experienced clinical educator in the field of cognition and well-versed in Concussion, return to work programs and counseling. Also, Sara initiated the Voice Banking clinic at 海角社区 for patients with ALS. Voice Banking which is a process that allows a person to record a set list of phrases with their own voice, while they still have the ability to do so. This recording is then converted to create a personal synthetic voice

Sara is considered an industry expert for continuing medical education and courtroom applications and served as an expert witness in the national case of Terry Schiavo. Sara has presented and continues to actively conduct numerous educational in-services in the areas of brain injury, cognition, dysphagia, ethical issues and community re-entry.
