Graduate Student Spotlight: Elisabeth Fondren

photo: fondrenElisabeth Fondren studied German and English philology and critical cultural studies during undergraduate program at the University of Heidelberg in Germany, where she also started working in print journalism. She moved to London in 2012 and received her master鈥檚 degree in International Journalism at City University鈥檚 Graduate School of Journalism.

 

Fondren鈥檚 work mostly focused on European politics and public affairs reporting. One of her favorite memories was a trip to the European Union parliament in Strasbourg to cover the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

 

Now pursuing a doctorate at the Manship School of Mass Communication, Fondren鈥檚 research is primarily focused on journalism history, public affairs theory and media philosophy. This summer she鈥檚 doing archival research for her dissertation in Berlin. After finishing her PhD., she wants to stay in academia to teach and do research, but she鈥檚 also interested in working in government affairs or for an international think tank.
