This year鈥檚 honorees are:
Alfred N. Delahaye, BA鈥49, MA 鈥51
Nicholls State University Professor Emeritus Alfred N. Delahaye earned his bachelor鈥檚 and master鈥檚 degrees in journalism from the Manship School of Mass Communication. His resume is peppered with newspaper experience as a typesetter, reporter, combat correspondent, copy editor, and managing editor.
Delahaye received his doctorate from the University of Missouri School of Journalism before landing at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., where he established the school鈥檚 mass communication degree program. His greatest contribution to journalism is in the mentoring of hundreds of journalism students in the classroom, in the newsroom, and in the school of life.
Joseph Craig Kelley, BA 鈥82
After graduating from 海角社区 in 1982, Craig Kelley interned with the New Orleans Saints before joining the Indianapolis Colts in 1985. His tenure with the Colts spanned nearly three decades. For 24 years, he served as the team鈥檚 chief public relations and communications official, helping players, coaches and front-office executives mesh with reporters to successfully promote one of the NFL鈥檚 most storied franchises.
Kelley served as a Colts vice president for 14 years, including the team鈥檚 winningest decade (2000-09). He was one of the NFL鈥檚 most senior communications specialists and was selected to the NFL鈥檚 PR staff at 16 Super Bowls and one Pro Bowl.
Now living in Naples, Fla., Kelley has co-written a book on Peyton Manning, 鈥淎 Quarterback for the Ages,鈥 that is due out this fall. It is a pictorial book of the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback鈥檚 18-year career. It includes anecdotes, stories, stats and facts and is an inside look at his career from a PR person鈥檚 perspective.
Charlie McBride, BA 鈥65
Throughout his professional career, McBride has used his journalism skills to help shape public policy and to promote the value of good government. He has an outstanding professional record, particularly in the public policy arena where, for more than four decades, he has effectively used his communication and leadership skills to identify solutions, develop proposals and legislative strategies, and influence government on a national and international platform.
McBride鈥檚 many philanthropic endeavors include serving 30 years on the Board of Directors of the Close Up Foundation, which conducts the nation鈥檚 largest civic-education program for students and teachers.
McBride is considered an expert on Congressional legislation on energy and environment.
Jeffrey David Wright, BA 鈥82
Wright co-founded Wright Feigley Communications with Stuart Feigley in November 2006. The agency has worked for prominent organizations such as Campus Federal, LCTA Workers鈥 Comp, BASF, and Keep Louisiana Beautiful.
Trained as an advertising account executive, Wright was known for his acumen in strategy, public relations and crisis communications. He was involved in many civic pursuits, and was passionate about making Baton Rouge a better city and Louisiana a better state. Wright passed away in September 2014.
