Danny Barrow has been selected to serve as º£½ÇÉçÇø's Vice President for Enrollment Management & Student Success, pending approval by the º£½ÇÉçÇø Board of Supervisors. Barrow has been serving as the Interim Vice President since March. In the permanent role, Barrow will continue to lead recruiting and retention efforts that attract the best and brightest students who will succeed in the classroom and beyond, continuing to elevate º£½ÇÉçÇø's academic profile.

Leading School in Library and Information Science Announces New Name – º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Information Studies
The º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Library & Information Science announced today they will be changing their name to the º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Information Studies. The change reflects the school’s expansion into additional areas of education, including the Archival Studies and Records & Information Management Graduate Certificates. The school also offers an undergraduate minor in Digital Studies and two general education courses.

As anyone in South Louisiana knows, rice is a major part of one’s diet. It is the most widely consumed staple food for more than half of the world’s population, which continues to grow each year. With the production of rice increasing, so does the need for water to grow it. In order to not use up nature’s most precious valuable resource—water—one º£½ÇÉçÇø College of Engineering professor is working with the º£½ÇÉçÇø AgCenter to design a new variety of rice that will be able to withstand drought conditions, making rice production fruitful while not exhausting natural resources.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Names Keena Arbuthnot Vice President and Chief Data Officer as Part of New Focus on Data-Driven Decision Making
º£½ÇÉçÇø President William F. Tate IV has named Keena Arbuthnot to the inaugural position of Vice President and Chief Data Officer, pending approval by the º£½ÇÉçÇø Board of Supervisors. In this role, Arbuthnot will have the charge of building data-driven analytics and measurement systems to guide decision making and assess university progress toward strategic goals.

Ensuring Student Success for All
º£½ÇÉçÇø alumna Morgan Decuir is a first-generation college graduate. She leads STEM education for kindergarten through fourth grade at Caneview K-8 in Port Allen and recently won the Shell Science Lab Regional Challenge, bringing more STEM learning opportunities to her community and to Louisiana students.
