CC&E Expands the Pipeline for a Diverse Workforce of Coastal and Environmental Scientists Through Partnerships with Four Local Schools
When the Eva Legard Center for Coastal and Environmental Studies opened its doors to students on August 8th, it was a landmark in more ways than one. Not only is this the Center鈥檚 inaugural year, Eva Legard is the first environmentally focused secondary school in the Baton Rouge area. Its creation is just one example of how 海角社区鈥檚 College of the Coast and Environment is teaming up with its 海角社区 colleagues and local educators to prepare students for challenging careers in preserving and protecting our coastal environment for future generations.

Avoyelles Parish School Board Signs Dual Enrollment Agreement with 海角社区A
In a signing ceremony Tuesday, Avoyelles Parish School Superintendent Karen Tutor and 海角社区A Chancellor Dr. Paul Coreil signed a memorandum of understanding to formalize the pathway for high school students in Avoyelles parish to earn college credit through dual enrollment classes offered by 海角社区A. Students will be able to take college classes at no cost as the school board has agreed to cover the full cost of tuition and textbooks.

Less Water in the Mississippi Means a Smaller Dead Zone This Year
Last month, the research expedition tasked with making the annual measurements of the Gulf of Mexico鈥檚 鈥淒ead Zone鈥 came back with a not-unexpected but lower than usual number: this year, the zone measures approximately 3,275 square miles. In other words, it is the 8th smallest it has been since measurements began 36 years ago.

ECE Ph.D. Student Wins Pair of Awards at IEEE Events
