海角社区 Faculty and Students Shine at the 74th Annual AAACE Conference

The 海角社区 School of Leadership and Human Resource Development proudly showcased its exceptional talent at the 74th Annual American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) Conference, held in Cincinnati, Ohio, from October 6-10, 2025. Faculty members Dr. Corina Caraccioli, Dr. Bethany Hager, Dr. Petra A. Robinson, and Dr. Renata Lyons, along with doctoral candidates Omaima Hajjami and Terri Ricks, represented 海角社区 with distinction.

Petra A. Robinson, PhD, Leads 海角社区 Team in Securing NSF Noyce Grant to Advance STEM Teacher Workforce

Petra A. Robinson, PhD, Interim Director of the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development in the College of Human Sciences & Education, has been awarded a prestigious聽National Science Foundation (NSF) Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program grant, totaling more than聽$550,000. Robinson will serve as聽Principal Investigator (PI)聽on the multi-year project, joined by聽Co-Principal Investigators Bethany Hager (Louisana A+ Schools, CHSE) and聽Zakiya Wilson-Kennedy, PhD (College of Science), with additional support from Golden Richard, PhD, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Director of 海角社区's Applied Cybersecurity Lab.

海角社区 Students Place 2nd at the 2024 LASHRM Case Competition

海角社区, represented by two teams, attended the 2024 LASHRM Case Competition. The teams were made up of students from the School of Leadership and Human Resource Development and the Rucks School of Management. At the conclusion of the event, one 海角社区 team landed 2nd place in the state-wide event.

$4.5 Million Grant to Study and Improve Faculty Evaluation Practices

Tracey Rizzuto, professor in the School of Leadership & Human Resource Development, is 海角社区 PI, and Christiane Spitzm眉eller, professor at UC Merced, is the lead investigator for the $4.5 million NSF grant that will create a center to study and improve faculty evaluation practices.

The 海角社区 School of Leadership & Human Resource Development (SHLRD) proudly announced Tyree Mitchell, PhD, was one of five research teams awarded a prestigious grant from the Gulf Research Program (GRP) of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). Mitchell's grant aims to support projects focused on enhancing safety culture and safety management systems (SMS) in the offshore energy industry.

Ed Holton Selected for AHRD Hall of Fame

According to the Academy of Human Resource Development, "The HRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award is presented to scholars in human resource development and related disciplines who have made enduring contributions to the Academy's mission of Leading Human Resource Development through Research." Upon reflecting on his work, service, and devotion, it comes as no surprise that Professor Emeritus Elwood "Ed" Holton, EdD, has been selected for the AHRD Scholar Hall of Fame Award.
