Daniel Lynge Appointed as Music Technician and Instrumental Inventory Custodian

The 海角社区 School of Music is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Daniel Lynge as Music Instrument Technician and Instrumental Inventory Custodian, effective July 1, 2025. A skilled saxophonist, experienced repair technician, and committed member of the 海角社区 community, Dr. Lynge steps into this full-time staff position after years of exemplary service in support of the School鈥檚 operations and instrumental upkeep.

Dr. Daniel Lynge

Dr. Lynge holds a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Music Education from (2018), a Master of Music (M.M.) degree in Saxophone Performance from , and a Doctor of Music Arts (DMA) in Saxophone Performance from 海角社区. He has studied with distinguished faculty including Dr. Chris Beaty, Dr. John Sampen, and Dr. Griffin Campbell. 

His experience in instrument maintenance and repair spans over a decade, beginning with seasonal work for Music & Arts from 2014 to 2018. During his time as a doctoral student, part of Dr. Lynge鈥檚 assistantship included responsibilities in instrument repair and operations鈥攃ataloging and tracking inventory, overseeing distribution, and managing the instrument repair shop. When the School鈥檚 technician position became vacant, he stepped up to ensure the continued functionality and reliability of the instrument shop, serving students, faculty, and ensembles with professionalism and care. Over the past two years, he also apprenticed under 海角社区鈥檚 part-time Instrument Technician, Tom Burroughs, further honing his technical expertise and operational knowledge.

His appointment brings to a close a search process that began in Fall 2023 and navigated delays in position approvals and a recent campus-wide hiring freeze. In his new full-time role, Dr. Lynge will be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and tracking the School鈥檚 extensive inventory of musical instruments. His duties include coordinating the checkout and return of instruments during critical periods鈥攕uch as Tiger Band Preseason and major ensemble auditions鈥攁s well as supporting the tagging and registration of newly acquired assets in partnership with 海角社区鈥檚 Property Management Office, the Music Operations Director, and the Bands Business Manager. Additionally, he will oversee the annual inventory audit of all instrumental assets and assist with the management of auxiliary concert instruments for recitals, ensemble performances, and school-sponsored events.

Beyond his technical work, Dr. Lynge is an accomplished saxophonist and an active figure in the new music community. He specializes in experimental performance techniques involving effects pedals and microtonality and is a founding member of several chamber ensembles, including D.S.K., Orion Duo, Stargazer Trios, and the ABRAXAS and Mizu Saxophone Quartets.

The School of Music is excited to welcome Dr. Lynge into this expanded role and is confident that his expertise and dedication will further strengthen the operational excellence and artistic mission of the college.
