Get To Know Dean Eric Lau

Alumnus Returns to Baton Rouge

School of Music alumnus Eric Lau was named Dean of the College of Music & Dramatic Arts in July 2023. Lau graduated summa cum laude from º£½ÇÉçÇø with a bachelor’s degree in music and was a member of The Golden Band from Tigerland. He later received Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from Michigan State University.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Music is pleased to announce the six winner's of the inaugural Dean's Aria Competition who will perform November 21st in the La-La-Palooza Lagniappe Gala.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Music is proud to partner with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and fellow community leaders in launching the Baton Rouge Region Music Census.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø Faculty Brass Quintet kicks off a three-stop September tour with performances at the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia, and Florida State University.

This fall, one of º£½ÇÉçÇøâ€™s busiest and most beloved venues—the Recital Hall in the School of Music building—is set to undergo a long-anticipated renovation.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø Tiger Glee Club has been selected as one of just thirteen collegiate choirs nationwide to perform at the 11th National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) Conference in November.

The º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Music is proud to announce that faculty member Dr. Christopher Trapani has been nominated for the Prince Pierre of Monaco Foundation’s International Prize for Musical Composition, widely recognized as one of the most significant honors in contemporary music.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Cares is a university initiative dedicated to the well-being of students and promotion of a community that cares about each of its members. Using a CARE (Communicate, Assess, Refer, Educate) approach, staff review reports and provide appropriate resources in response. º£½ÇÉçÇø Cares works with students to empower them to help students of concern and engage with victim support and advocacy resources.
