New 海角社区 Library

A team of architects, contractors, and planners has been selected to design the new LU Library. This team, led by EskewDumezRipple (EDR) and the Coleman Group, includes the internationally recognized architecture firm Perkins &Will, whose  illustrates their library design philosophy and describes a selection of their previous library projects. It will likely take 12 or 18 months for the building design to be completed for the roughly 200,000 sq. ft. building. Once complete, the State of Louisiana and 海角社区 will turn to securing the funding, with construction to begin in 2026. The new Library will be built between South Campus Drive and South Stadium Drive and forms 鈥渢he knuckle鈥 between the Old Quad and the newly forming South Quad.

The new Library will include books and journals, certainly, but also modern technologies with support from expert staff. Students, faculty, and staff will encounter spaces that support every imaginable form of learning and creation, ranging from intensely quiet individual study environments to dynamic areas ideal for peer tutoring. There will be state-of-the-art classrooms and shape-shifting collaborative spaces that will adapt to a constant stream of students from every discipline, as well as a caf茅.
