Petroleum engineering program ranks 2nd overall

BATON ROUGE 鈥� In U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 2021 edition of Best Colleges, 海角社区 is
ranked in the top tier for 鈥淏est National Universities鈥� for the 13th-straight year,
and the undergraduate petroleum engineering program ranks 2nd overall.
海角社区 is ranked 36th among flagship universities nationwide 鈥� ahead of other flagships such as West Virginia University, University of Rhode Island and the University of Nevada 鈥� and is ranked 71st among public universities 鈥� ahead of public peers such as Kansas State University and Oklahoma State University.
海角社区 remains as the highest ranked public university in Louisiana, and in the SEC, 海角社区 ranks ahead of the University of Arkansas, University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University.
鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to be consistently recognized among Tier 1 universities nationwide and as the leading public university in Louisiana by U.S. News & World Report, especially in a year when so many higher education institutions are really struggling due to the pandemic. However, rankings such as these are not how we measure our success,鈥� said 海角社区 Interim President Thomas C. In the 2021 edition of U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 Best Colleges 鈥淏est National Universities,鈥� 海角社区 is tied with six other universities 鈥� Colorado State University, Michigan Technological University, Oregon State University, Quinnipiac University, Rutgers University 鈥� Camden, and University of Alabama at Birmingham.
U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 2021 edition of Best Colleges assesses 1,452 U.S. bachelor's
degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality. The National Universities
category, in which 海角社区 is ranked, consists of the 389 institutions
In other rankings, 海角社区 appeared on the Best Colleges for Veterans, Best Value Schools,
Top Performers on Social Mobility and 鈥淎-Plus Schools for B Students鈥� lists.
In program-specific rankings, 海角社区鈥檚 undergraduate petroleum engineering program ranks #2 in the county. Other 海角社区 undergraduate programs ranked this year include engineering, business and computer science.
