For four straight years in a row, 海角社区 has soared in research. In the 2023-2024 academic year, 海角社区's research campuses in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport achieved a record-breaking $543 million in combined research activity. Not only did this lead to life-changing discoveries and support thousands of jobs--the direct economic impact of 海角社区 research on Louisiana is higher than ever, estimated at $1.5 billion.

In fall of 2025, 海角社区 will launch a new instructional site on its Baton Rouge campus for its nationally recognized Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.

海角社区 and Battelle Energy Alliance, the company that manages Idaho National Laboratory (INL), have agreed to collaborate in areas of mutual interest, including cybersecurity and advanced nuclear technology, under a memorandum of understanding, or MOU.

Funded by a groundbreaking $160 million award from the National Science Foundation, FUEL partners will work together to advance the nation鈥檚 capacity for energy innovation through use-inspired research and development that will impact our everyday lives, workforce development to protect current jobs and create new ones, and technology commercialization that will transform ideas into products for the marketplace.

Working for Louisiana

海角社区 is the first university in the nation to partner with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), and Idaho National Laboratory (INL) on a unique model for cybersecurity for critical infrastructure.

Last year, 海角社区 and Southern University teamed up to increase worldwide access to high-performance computing and won a $1.5 million award from the National Science Foundation. The team鈥檚 goal is to build a bigger user community around HPX, a software library developers can use to create faster, more powerful, and energy-efficient applications.

Newlab鈥檚 move to Louisiana demonstrates the research and economic development power of 海角社区, said Josh Fleig, chief innovation officer at Louisiana Economic Development.
