海角社区 Vet Med Dean receives prestigious Blaine Award

Oliver Garden, BVetMed, PhD, FHEA, FCPP, FRCVS, DACVIM, DECVIM-CA, dean of the 海角社区 School of Veterinary Medicine, was recently recognized for receiving the 2020 The Blaine Award from the British Small Animal Veterinary Association. This award is given for outstanding contributions to the advancement of small animal veterinary medicine or surgery.

鈥淚 am honored and humbled in equal measure to receive the prestigious BSAVA Blaine Award, which I would like to dedicate to the talented and committed scientists who have contributed to the success of my research over the years,鈥 said Dr. Garden. 鈥淢any of these colleagues were trainees who are now well-respected clinicians and clinician scientists in their own right. The joy I derive from helping others advance in their careers is inestimable and is truly my greatest contribution to our wonderful profession these days.鈥

Dr. Oliver Garden is also the Kenneth Burns Endowed Chair at 海角社区 Vet Med. Previously he was chair of the Department of Clinical Sciences & Advanced Medicine at Penn Vet. After undertaking veterinary training and a PhD at the Royal Veterinary College, he completed Wellcome Trust Fellowships at the University of South Carolina and Imperial College London, as well as a Small Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Cornell University. He is board-certified in Small Animal Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Dr. Garden became dean of 海角社区 Vet Med in August 2021.
