As part of a larger Build Back Better grant, 海角社区 Chemical and Petroleum Engineering researchers will be working on the capture, utilization, and sequestration of CO2.

鈥満=巧缜 is well positioned to be a world leader in CCUS research and education,鈥 said John Flake, professor and chair of the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering. 鈥淏y well positioned, I mean we will have all pieces of the puzzle鈥攁n on-campus power plant; a CO2 capture system; a sequestration loop; CO2 electrolyzers; as well as a great university, faculty, industry, and geography conducive to sequestration.鈥

This project is part of 海角社区's commitment to building a research platform for energy resilience that is also aimed at reducing carbon emissions and reusing and recycling carbon. Ultimately, we will translate existing resources and expertise into new opportunities and jobs to power Louisiana and protect the vitality of Louisiana鈥檚 energy industry.
