LCRC Director Joins 海角社区 Health New Orleans Faculty to Lead Cancer Center

海角社区 Health, LCMC Health, Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC), and Tulane have agreed to key steps to accelerate the attainment of the first National Cancer Institute Designated Cancer Center in Louisiana. 

Under the agreement, Dr. Joe W. Ramos, director and CEO of the LCRC, will serve as director of the 海角社区 Health-LCMC Health Cancer Center as a full-time member of the 海角社区 Health New Orleans School of Medicine faculty. Also, 海角社区 Health New Orleans will be the applicant institution for NCI designation.

海角社区 Health and LCMC Health have each committed $50 million to expanding the cancer center's research and multidisciplinary care programs, which will support the organization鈥檚 journey to NCI designation. LCMC Health will be the lead medical center partner.

鈥淭he work the 海角社区 LCMC Health Cancer Center is doing will make fundamental changes in our approach to reducing the burden of cancer in Louisiana,鈥 Dr. Ramos said. 鈥淲e are employing a comprehensive approach to better prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer and train the next generation to continue this important work."
