º£½ÇÉçÇø Facility Services turned a delayed repair into innovation when Aaron Cherry modeled a broken part and Natale Nappi 3D-printed a replacement overnight. Their teamwork shows º£½ÇÉçÇøâ€™s pride, creativity, and problem-solving spirit, working together as a team to find a solution.
º£½ÇÉçÇø celebrated three faculty members during the Presidential Laurel recognition ceremony. The event recognizes the exceptional academic and research accomplishments of faculty over the past academic year.
The º£½ÇÉçÇø Board of Supervisors has named six faculty members as Boyd Professors, the university’s highest academic honor. This historic cohort—the largest ever—includes four from º£½ÇÉçÇø, one from º£½ÇÉçÇø Shreveport, and one from Pennington Biomedical.
º£½ÇÉçÇø recently honored its employees with 25 years or more of service at the 2025 Faculty & Staff Recognition Jazz Brunch.
Nearly everyone has looked up at the night sky and wondered about the mysteries of the universe. º£½ÇÉçÇø astrophysicist Eric Burns says he and his fellow experts are doing that very thing from a scientific perspective, and they recently struck gold.

º£½ÇÉçÇø faculty member named 2025 Westminster Kennel Club Veterinarian of the Year
The Westminster Kennel Club has named Sara K. Lyle, associate professor of theriogenology at the º£½ÇÉçÇø School of Veterinary Medicine, the recipient of its fourth annual Veterinarian of the Year Award.

º£½ÇÉçÇø's Nick Mason Wins Prestigious CAREER Award to Advance Ornithological Research and Student Mentorship
Dr. Nick Mason, Assistant Professor and Curator of Birds at º£½ÇÉçÇø Museum of Natural Science, has been awarded the highly competitive National Science Foundation CAREER Award.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Celebrates Six Rainmakers
Six º£½ÇÉçÇø faculty members have been selected as Rainmakers by the º£½ÇÉçÇø Council on Research based on their outstanding scholarship and creative activity within their respective ranks and disciplines. The Rainmaker awards recognize sustained work with high impact, often in alignment with º£½ÇÉçÇø's Scholarship First Agenda to improve lives in Louisiana and across the world.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Librarian Nicollette Davis Drives Change as 2024 Mover & Shaker
In her short time at º£½ÇÉçÇø, Librarian Nicollette Davis has made an indelible mark on º£½ÇÉçÇø Libraries and the library world writ large. This year, she was named a 2024 Mover & Shaker by Library Journal for her dedication to equal opportunity initiatives. Library Journal is a premier American trade publication for librarians that was founded in 1876. It has awarded more than 20,000 recipients since the award's inception in 2002. Davis is one of 50 in her cohort and brings a wealth of experience and a passion for fostering a more inclusive environment within the library community.

Kenneth J. Schafer Honored as Boyd Professor, º£½ÇÉçÇø's Highest Professorial Ranking
On Friday, Sept. 8, the º£½ÇÉçÇø Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to designate Kenneth J. Schafer, Ball Family Distinguished Professor in Physics & Astronomy the rank of Boyd Professor--the highest and most prestigious academic rank at º£½ÇÉçÇø.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Manship School’s John Hamilton Honored for Media History Excellence by AEJMC
º£½ÇÉçÇø Professor John Maxwell Hamilton has been awarded the Donald L. Shaw Senior Scholar Award by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication’s (AEJMC) History Division. This award honors a scholar who has a demonstrated record of excellence in media history that has spanned at least 15 years, including division membership.

Six º£½ÇÉçÇø Faculty Receive National Science Foundation CAREER Awards
Six º£½ÇÉçÇø researchers have been awarded the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious grant for early-career faculty. Each was chosen because of their potential to serve as academic role models in research and education, and ability to integrate their endeavors within the context of their organization’s mission.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Research Professors Awarded $800K from U.S. Department of Energy
º£½ÇÉçÇø quantum physics faculty are among 13 research groups in the U.S. recently selected for funding by the U.S. Department of Energy. These º£½ÇÉçÇø researchers are at the forefront of interdisciplinary research in nuclear science, fundamental and applied research and quantum information science and technology.

Distinguished Research Masters and Dissertation Award Recipients Announced
º£½ÇÉçÇø Office of Research & Economic Development, or ORED, honors the exceptional research and scholarship of two º£½ÇÉçÇø faculty as Distinguished Research Masters each year. In addition, the º£½ÇÉçÇø Alumni Association and the º£½ÇÉçÇø Pinkie Gordon Lane Graduate School sponsor the Distinguished Dissertation Awards presented to two doctoral students whose research and writing demonstrate superior scholarship.

º£½ÇÉçÇø Research Recognizes Six Rainmakers
