Research
The Rucks Department of Management is dedicated to understanding the behavior of organizations and how companies interact with their environments. Our faculty develop ground-breaking theories in management and bring their scholarly expertise to the classroom and beyond.
Faculty
Our internationally recognized faculty are leaders in their fields and are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and real-world experience with their students. The Rucks Department of Management faculty are actively engaged and accessible to students ensuring the tools needed for career success.
SHRM Academically Aligned
Our Human Resource Management (HRM) concentration within the BS Management degree is aligned with the Society for Human Resource Management, the national organization, and foremost expert, convener, and thought leader on issues impacting today鈥檚 evolving workplaces. SHRM recognized that our curriculum prepares HRM students to meet the needs of today鈥檚 businesses. Students enrolled in our aligned program are eligible to apply for the SHRM-CP exam, providing them with a career advantage. They also receive student pricing advantages when sitting for the exam and can enjoy favorable exam eligibility requirements.
Society for Human Resource Management
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) at 海角社区 is the world鈥檚 largest association devoted to human resource management. SHRM provides access to major Human Resource publications and the opportunity to interact with practicing managers. The group hears from guest speakers who are knowledgeable and experienced, hosts trips, and assists with career planning and placement.
Rucks Fellows
The Rucks Fellows represent the highest level of academic achievement among senior management majors. Each academic year, 10 students are recognized as Rucks Fellows. These students receive opportunities to interact with faculty and business leaders, designation as Rucks Fellows at graduation, and a cash award upon graduation. To qualify, a senior management major must have a grade point average in the top 10 of all graduating seniors in the management curriculum.
College Organizations
The E. J. Ourso College of Business offers numerous student organizations available to students. These organizations are a great way to connect with students across majors and get involved with the business college itself.
Meet the Rucks Family
In 1996, William Rucks IV and Catherine Rucks made a generous investment in the E. J. Ourso College of Business鈥� management department. The department was renamed the William W. & Catherine M. Rucks Department of Management shortly thereafter in their honor.
The Rucks' contributions have aided in the Rucks Department of Management being recognized for its outstanding research-driven faculty, student-affiliated organizations, and outstanding alumni. They have established the William W. Rucks IV Endowed Chair and Professor of Management, the Catherine M. Rucks Professor of Management, the William W. and Catherine M. Rucks Professor of Management, and the William W. and Catherine M. Rucks Endowed Scholarship.

Rucks Management News
The Rucks Department of Management at the E. J. Ourso College of Business acknowledges outstanding students as Rucks Fellows. These students are chosen by the faculty and represent the highest level of academic achievement among senior management majors in any of the department's concentrations. To be eligible, a student must be among the top graduating seniors in the management curriculum based on their grade-point average; honorees are announced in the fall and spring semesters.
Four faculty members from the 海角社区 E. J. Ourso College of Business have been listed on the Stanford/Elsevier global Top 2% Scientists List for 2025. The list, updated annually and and published on the Elsevier Data Repository, identifies the top 2% of scientists worldwide by standardized citation metrics. Inclusion in the rankings is a prestigious recognition of a researcher's impact on their field and beyond.
A common understanding about food insecurity is that it 鈥渋sn鈥檛 a workplace concern.鈥� But 海角社区 researchers weren鈥檛 convinced. In a study published in Personnel Psychology, they put this understanding to the test.
