Pitch Competitions
Got a big idea? Pitch it for a chance to win. On-campus students from across the 海角社区
system are encouraged to participate in the annual J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge,
where three finalists will pitch for a share of $35,000. This system-wide business
plan competition is open to on-campus 海角社区 students and alumni (graduated within the
last year) who are operating businesses or launching new ventures.

Case competitions
Case competitions team students together to present innovative solutions to real-world business problems. Teams compete for far more than bragging rights鈥攎ost competitions award cash prizes. These events put students face-to-face with top executives who have the power to implement their solutions. Not sure where to start? Talk to our student engagement coordinator about internal competitions to test the waters and gain experience without leaving campus.
Undergraduate Research
Improve your problem-solving skills and your r茅sum茅 by conducting research.
The 海角社区 Office of Undergraduate Research makes it easy for students to participate in faculty-mentored research by offering workshops, mentor search assistance, and funding opportunities.
When the experts talk, Business Tigers listen.

Student Stories
A group of 海角社区 business students finished in the top one percent of worldwide competitors in Bloomberg's 2025 Global Trading Challenge. With 2,394 teams in the competition, Brennan Davis of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Dakota Espinosa of Denham Springs, Louisiana and Landyn Sonnier of Tickfaw, Louisiana, finished in 20th place worldwide and 6th place among teams from North America. Senior instructor Tish O'Connor, CFA, served as faculty advisor for 海角社区's competition teams.
At 海角社区, education extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. The Lagniappe Internship Fund provides students with extra financial support to take their learning to the next level, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world experience. The fund empowers Tigers to say 鈥測es鈥 to meaningful, hands-on opportunities that challenge them, expand their skills, and shape their future careers.
The 海角社区 E. J. Ourso College of Business recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of two of its student organizations, Beta Alpha Psi and Delta Sigma Pi.
