Business-Focused Student Organizations

Explore your interests and make lifelong friends by joining one or many of the E. J. Ourso College's student organizations.

Activities include workshops, guest speakers, conference attendance, social gatherings, and volunteer service. There are more than a dozen groups to choose from鈥攕ome are geared to a specific major or interest, while others are open to any business student.

1860 Investment Fund

A student-managed investment fund, 1860鈥檚 mission is to provide a multi-year, hands-on experience in portfolio management and equity research for business undergraduates, with the ultimate goal of preparing more 海角社区 students to succeed in prestigious roles in finance.

Following a model that simulates a real-world firm, members receive hands-on experience and exposure to financial markets, giving them a competitive edge in understanding industry dynamics and trends, and better preparing them for careers in finance. Members also gain access to networking opportunities, professional development and recruiting resources, and specific internship opportunities. 

The organization recruits new members each fall semester; applications open during the summer.

Alpha Kappa Psi 

Alpha Kappa Psi is the country鈥檚 oldest and largest professional business fraternity. AKPsi is recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders. AKPsi offers networking opportunities through community service and professional programming, as well as opportunities to meet people from all over the country at regional and national conventions.

Asset Management Academy 

The Asset Management Academy helps students develop the tools to work in the asset management industry. There is a focus on research, using finance, math, and computer science to create tools that function at industry standards. Asset Management Academy is a think tank run by students and is open to undergraduate and graduate students in various disciplines. The group has a multidisciplinary focus on preparing students for the research analyst/portfolio manager and advisor roles.

Association of Information Technology Professionals

AITP is an organization that helps students to explore careers in technology. Members connect with business professionals to learn more about employment opportunities and expectations. Professional meetings with speakers are combined with social gatherings for a well-rounded organizational agenda. Open to all 海角社区 students.

Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is a national professional honorary accounting fraternity. 海角社区鈥檚 chapter of this organization has achieved superior status in most of the last 15 years. BAP aims to promote an understanding of the field of accountancy, provide opportunities for self-development, and encourage a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility. 

Accounting, finance, and information systems undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to apply and are accepted based on academic performance.

Business College Council

The E. J. Ourso Business College Council exists to provide the college with students鈥 views, ideas, and values while advancing and enhancing the college experience for business students. The council鈥檚 purpose is to improve students鈥 awareness of events within the college, unify the organizations within the colleges, and serve as a link between students and the administration. E. J. Ourso College of Business students elects the council during Student Government elections. 

Commercial Banking Student Association

The Commercial Banking Student Association fosters relationships between students and industry leaders, helping members develop key business competencies and explore career opportunities. It offers networking, internships, mentorships, and scholarships, while supporting the Department of Finance's Commercial Banking Initiative. The association promotes an inclusive, diverse community where students can thrive professionally and personally.

DECA at 海角社区

DECA at 海角社区 is a part of an international organization that prepares high school and college students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management, and entrepreneurship. It focuses on developing leadership skills, business acumen, and professionalism through a variety of programs, competitions, and conferences.

Delta Sigma Pi (DSP) is a professional business fraternity consisting of undergraduate and graduate business majors. The fraternity鈥檚 professional programs feature prominent business leaders speaking on various business- and career-oriented topics. DSP holds membership in the Greater Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. Other activities focus on civic service projects, volunteer services on campus, and social occasions.

de Soto Society

The de Soto Society is the premier investment banking job placement group at 海角社区. The admission process begins in the fall of a student鈥檚 sophomore year when they undergo a behavioral and technical interview to gauge their preparedness and interest in a career in investment banking. Over the next several months, students are given the tools to improve interview skills including technical material packets, upperclassmen mentors, and networking workshops with the ultimate goal of obtaining investment banking summer analyst and full-time analyst positions.  

Economics/International Trade & Finance Club

The Economics Club at 海角社区 is a community that helps curious students expand their knowledge of economic issues. Through events, forums, partnerships, and sponsorships, we promote the field of economics in how it affects people鈥檚 lives. We bring the learning that students see in the classroom and give it a dynamic, meaningful, and real-life approach. 

Emerging Technologies and Digital Assets Club 

The Emerging Technologies and Digital Assets Club helps students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to become future leaders in the blockchain space. Members gain a  foundational understanding of Web3 while focusing on regulatory outlook, institutional adoption, and emerging technologies. By connecting curious learners with leading experts in finance and Web3, we pursue educational and entrepreneurial opportunities in this space.

The Entrepreneurship Society

Innovate, network, and build through the only student organization exclusively for entrepreneurship majors.

The MBA Association enables its members to leverage the network of graduate business professionals around the world by sharing experiences and opportunities through it. Our 海角社区 chapter also offers professional networking, social events, and philanthropy opportunities for students currently enrolled in the MBA program.

They also partake in professional development programs, sessions, and activities that help prepare them for their careers. Members gain a business advantage for life as they grow professionally and learn from experience.

Founded by students who saw the need for a space that merges cultural identity with career growth, SIS provides mentorship, networking, and leadership opportunities that center the experiences of Black women. Through workshops, collaborations, and community building, SIS enriches the student experience by preparing members to excel professionally while fostering a supportive sisterhood that uplifts and inspires.

The Society for Human Resource Management at 海角社区 (SHRM) introduces students to the field of human resource management through professional development, networking, and learning opportunities. We connect students with HR professionals, promote excellence and leadership in the field, and encourage career growth through partnerships with GBR-SHRM and national SHRM. Our chapter fosters collaboration between students, faculty, and professionals to bridge academic knowledge with real-world HR experience. 

Student Real Estate Association

The Student Real Estate Association inspires the next generation of real estate professionals by offering learning and networking opportunities. The group is open to all majors with an interest in real estate.
