Data Governance is the intentional and systematic overseeing of policies, procedures, structures, roles, and responsibilities related to data security, privacy, integrity, management, access, and utilization. º£½ÇÉçÇø acknowledges that institutional data, both structured and unstructured, is a high-value asset, and its appropriate use is pivotal for data-informed decision making to support the overarching mission of the institution.

The Office of Data and Strategic Analytics plays a pivotal role in leading and coordinating data governance initiatives, facilitating data-informed decision-making, and promoting data literacy.

July: Creation of the Office of Data and Strategic Analytics (ODSA) 

  • Combination of Institutional Research and cutting-edge strategic analytics for data-informed decision-making. 

October: Creation of TDX Service Requests for ODSA

  • Establishes a streamlined, trackable process for managing all data access requests for the office

November: Establishment of the Data Governance Committee

  • Marks the formal initiation of º£½ÇÉçÇø's comprehensive data governance strategy

December: Acquisition of Data Cookbook

  • Purchased enterprise data dictionary and governance tool

Finalization of API Integration from Data Cookbook to Tableau

February: Data Domain and Subdomain Inventory Published Live 

  • Secure, centralized catalog of all university data assets now accessible to authorized users via single sign-on authentication

  • Delivered comprehensive live webinar for Data Stewards/Custodians to establish foundational knowledge & promote unified data practices across campus
