Innovative Food Truck Concept Wins 2023 J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge
Rollin鈥 Y枚ggler鈥檚 Turkey Durkeys won first place in the 2023 J Terrell Brown Venture Challenge for their quick-service food concept featuring fried turkey fingers and stuffing fries to be served from a fleet of vibrant food trucks. Their first-place finish came with a $20,000 award.

海角社区 Senior Earns Sixth Place in National Journalism Competition
海角社区 Manship School of Mass Communication broadcast journalism senior Aria Pons placed sixth in the Television Features News Competition of the 2022 鈥 2023 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. The competition received 77 entries from 47 schools. Pons鈥 win ties for the highest Manship School student鈥檚 placement in the competition since 2013.

海角社区鈥檚 Social Research & Evaluation Center Named Center of Research Excellence by Louisiana Board of Regents
The 海角社区 Social Research & Evaluation Center (SREC) in the 海角社区 College of Human Sciences & Education has been named a Louisiana Board of Regents Center of Research Excellence. SREC is the second Center of Research Excellence at 海角社区 A&M and the only center focused on evaluating and researching social issues affecting our communities.

海角社区 Senior Birdie O鈥機onnell Receives Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Scholarship
The Louisiana Association of Broadcasters (LAB) recognized 海角社区 Manship School of Mass Communication senior Birdie O'Connell, a Tiger TV sports journalist and Manship Ambassador, with the LAB Broadcast Scholarship at the 2023 LAB Prestige Awards. O鈥機onnell was one of two students in the state to earn the $4,000 scholarship.

海角社区 Names Alumnus Eric Lau as Dean of the College of Music & Dramatic Arts
海角社区 has named alumnus Eric Lau the Dean of the College of Music & Dramatic Arts, effective July 1, pending approval by the 海角社区 Board of Supervisors. Lau currently serves as Dean of both the Honors College and the University College at the University of New Mexico.

海角社区 Holding Spring Greening Day & Sustainability Expo April 20
Campus Sustainability will host its annual Spring Greening Day & Sustainability Expo on Thursday, April 20 from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. in front of the Student Union. Students, staff, and faculty are asked to volunteer to assist Landscape Services staff in planting and beautifying the area in front of the Student Union from Highland Road to Tower Drive. The planting and mulching that takes place on SGD creates landscapes that offer both an aesthetic benefit and ecological significance to the soil, wildlife, and water quality on campus.

海角社区's Delta Mouth Literary Festival Returns After 3-Year Hiatus
On April 21-23, Delta Mouth Literary Festival, a free, three-day event, will bring nationally acclaimed authors to Baton Rouge. Since 2009, the annual Delta Mouth Literary Festival, founded and run by graduate students in 海角社区's MFA Creative Writing Program, has been a flagship event for the literary arts here in Baton Rouge; however, due to the pandemic, the festival has been on a break since 2019.

Can Shoplifting Cause Problems in Employee Retention? 海角社区 Researcher Provides Insight for Practitioners
Recent disruptions, labor shortages, and fiscal pressures have imposed and highlighted changes in the roles and responsibilities of frontline employees (FLEs) in retail service environments. Being yelled at, accused, threatened, or having their presence ignored while customers shoplift are just some examples of customers鈥 deviant behaviors (CDB) that FLEs are expected to endure on a regular basis without extra compensation. As a result, frustrated FLEs now find themselves saying 鈥渘ot my circus, not my monkeys,鈥 which has a tremendous impact on organizations and retailing services.
