E. J. Ourso College of Business Student Organizations Earn Awards

BATON ROUGE – The º£½ÇÉçÇø E. J. Ourso College of Business recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of its student organizations and leaders.
"We could not be more proud of these groups and all of the Ourso College's student organizations and leaders," said Dean Jared J. Llorens. "Joining student groups opens up opportunities for our Business Tigers. By participating, you'll build valuable networks, explore diverse career paths and enhance your leadership skills."
Beta Alpha Psi

With a victory at the regional mid-year competition, the º£½ÇÉçÇø Phi Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) secured its spot in the finals of the BAP Best Practices Competition, sponsored by Deloitte.
Accounting majors Brent York and Mary Caroline Wilcox won first place in the "Impacting Inclusiveness in Your Chapter" category. Their presentation focused on breaking barriers through collaboration with other business organizations and transforming the Phi Chapter's meeting style to better suit all finance, information systems and accounting students. The chapter's leadership team will expand and enhance the presentation for the finals to be held this summer.
Two other teams of accounting majors represented the chapter at the mid-year competition. In the "Impacting Your Profession" category, Thomas "Charlie" Hook III and Avery Aucoin focused on professional workshops and networking events. Grace Galatas and Allison Thompson's presentation in the "Impacting Your Community" category highlighted how the group transforms cultural traditions, specifically Mardi Gras, into meaningful service opportunities.
The BAP Phi Chapter serves students majoring in accounting, finance, information systems & decision sciences and information systems & analytics.
Delta Sigma Pi

Michael-Leah Hart
Delta Sigma Pi Professional Business Fraternity recognized Michael-Leah Hart, outgoing president of the º£½ÇÉçÇø Beta Zeta Chapter, as 2025 Regional Collegian of the Year for the Gulf South region. Hart graduated in May with degrees in entrepreneurship and marketing.
The Collegian of the Year program was established over 50 years ago and is the highest fraternity honor bestowed upon a collegiate member. Winners are chosen based on multiple criteria, including inter-chapter fraternity events, degree of leadership exhibited in DSP, scholastic aptitude and more.
DSP is a professional business fraternity for undergraduate and graduate business majors. The fraternity's professional programs feature prominent business leaders speaking on various business—and career-oriented topics. DSP holds membership in the Greater Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce. Other activities include civic service projects, campus volunteer services and social occasions.
National Association of Black Accountants

Clarence Magee II
Clarence Magee II, outgoing president of the National Association of Black Accountants
(NABA) at º£½ÇÉçÇø, received the Tiger Leadership Award from º£½ÇÉçÇø Campus Life at their annual
Tiger Excellence Awards event in April. This honor acknowledges Magee's leadership
and positive impact on the quality of student life at º£½ÇÉçÇø. Magee graduated with his
BS Accounting in 2024 and is currently pursuing a Master of Accountancy.
NABA was founded in 1969 by nine African-American professionals in the New York area
who were concerned with the limited participation of minorities in the accounting
profession, particularly the number of Certified Public Accountants. The º£½ÇÉçÇø chapter
of NABA was officially chartered in June of 2011 during the NABA National Convention.
NABA offers their members many benefits that include: personal and professional development,
internships, scholarships, leadership, networking, social events, mentorship and more.
